WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mark Walker (NC-06) today issued the following statement on the FBI reopening its investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server:

"This is more important than just emails. This is our national security. This is our safety. And Hillary Clinton thought her privacy and convenience was more important than the safety of the American people.

"The extremely careless mishandling and transmitting of top security information by Secretary Clinton proves that she believes the law doesn't apply to her or that she's not competent to serve in any official capacity.

"We cannot let these offenses go unpunished. No one is above the law. While long overdue, I am glad the FBI has chosen to do the right thing."

Congressman Walker sits on the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. In a hearing on July 7th, Walker questioned FBI Director James Comey on the handling of the investigation.
