WALKER: Democrats Focus On Partisan Politics, Not Solutions
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Mark Walker (R-N.C.) released the following statement after Democrats' blatant display of hypocrisy and partisan theatrics on police reform:
“Instead of focusing on meaningful, bipartisan reforms for the benefit of both the American people and our law enforcement, Democrats are deadset on championing hyper-partisan politics at the expense of our nation's wellbeing," Walker said. "Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and Democrats in Congress aren't trying to find real solutions or heal, but rather further divide Congress and the country in the name of politics."
Senate Democrats blocked debate on South Carolina Senator Tim Scott's JUSTICE Act yesterday, which focused on training, accountability and transparency to rebuild the trust between our police officers and the communities they serve. While Senate Republicans offered Senate Democrats 20 amendments to the legislation, Senate Democrats still blocked the legislation.
In the U.S. House of Representatives, Democrats provided Republicans with no amendment opportunities for the partisan Justice in Policing Act, which passed this evening. This legislation by Democrats has been said to have no chance in the Senate, with the Trump Administration issuing a veto threat should it ever reach President Trump's desk.
