WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Mark Walker (R-N.C.) today announced Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., President and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), as his guest for the 2020 State of the Union address.
“Johnny Taylor, Jr. is an economic trailblazer who is helping transform our country’s workforce,” Walker said. “As the voice of all things work and the leader of the largest human resources organization in the country, his vision and intellect are vital to ensuring our workforce is well-trained, healthy and ready to continue to further our great American comeback. Additionally, as the Chairman of the President's Advisory Board on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, he and I share priorities for advancing these great institutions in North Carolina and across the nation.”
Taylor is described as a “global leader on the future of employment, culture and leadership,” and often lends his expertise as a witness during Congressional hearings.
Taylor is also on the White House American Workforce Policy Advisory Board. He serves on the boards of the University of Miami, Jobs for America's Graduates and the American Red Cross and as an adviser to Safe Streets & Second Chances.
Walker and Taylor recently hosted a discussion at North Carolina A&T State University on workforce development, job-training, and how we can strengthen and diversify the American workforce to continue our economic prosperity.
