Walker Introduces Legislation to Deem Ace Speedway an Essential Business
WASHINGTON, D.C.- U.S. Representative Mark Walker (R-N.C.) submitted a resolution to the U.S. House of Representatives today to deem Ace Speedway in Alamance County, as well as other automobile racetracks, essential businesses, therefore allowing them to reopen immediately.
"Ace Speedway and the North Carolina racing industry provide our state with vital, essential sources of job opportunities and economic growth in a time when our national unemployment has ballooned to 13.3 percent," Walker said. "During this pandemic, we should not be picking winners and losers but instead providing these essential businesses the freedom to safely move forward and continue living their American Dream."
Walker's resolution recognizes all speedways as essential businesses and calls on local authorities and governors to work with racetrack owners and stakeholders to commence outdoor races immediately.
