Walker Named Subcommittee Vice-Chair
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Mark Walker (NC-06) has been named the vice-chairman of the House Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications. Walker will serve with Subcommittee Chairman Dan Donovan (NY-11).
“I’m deeply honored to be selected to serve as the Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications Subcommittee vice-chair,” Walker said. “I look forward to working with Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mike McCaul and Subcommittee Chairman Donovan to help conduct rigorous oversight of the Department of Homeland Security and craft policies that will protect American citizens from potential threats,” Walker added.
The Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications Subcommittee oversees the Department of Homeland Security’s mission to enhance and sustain our National capabilities to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate terrorist attacks and other emergencies. The Subcommittee ensures that emergency responders have the vital resources necessary in order to accomplish their goals. In addition, the Subcommittee oversees the homeland security grant programs administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to ensure these vital funds are distributed to those areas at greatest risk of attack.
