Press Release
The House passes the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019.

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Representative Mark Walker (R-N.C.) today released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 5515, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019:

“As we enter a weekend of reverence and remembrance of our fallen heroes, we have the opportunity to dedicate ourselves to provide our servicemen and servicewomen with the tools they need to stay safe while keeping our nations secure and executing their missions. This defense bill gives our troops the largest pay raise in nine years, provides a path to newer and safer equipment to combat an alarming rise in accidents and fights sexual assault so all in our military can feel safe, confident and cared for. God bless our troops as they address global threats from aggressors like Russia, China, North Korea and Iran, and thank you to all the heroes who came before them.”

This legislation authorizes and prioritizes funding for the Department of Defense (DoD) and military activities and construction, and prescribes military personnel strengths for Fiscal Year 2019.
